Jon & Jessica's Wedding: October 8th 2011

Many of you are aware that Texas has been in a terrible drought all summer.  Everything that is not watered on a regular basis is dead and brown.  The "pond" that our balcony looks over has dried up so much that now it is 3 very tiny ponds.  But Saturday the state of Texas got lucky and it poured...for longer than 5 minutes!  Our pond is now one complete pond again! The downside of all the rain is that Jon and Jessica's wedding ceremony had to be moved inside.  It was still beautiful though, and everyone had a great time.

I got ready for the wedding [thanks Erin for letting me wear your dress :o)] and headed out around 4:45pm.  I stopped at Greg and Mark's apartment in Austin to drop off my stuff and pick them up (Greg and Mark are friends of Mike's from you guessed it: the army).  We decided I should park at the Radisson which is right next door to the Four Seasons because parking would most likely be a little cheaper. The only problem was we had to walk about a block and a half to the Four Seasons and I did not have an umbrella.  I got pretty soaked and my hair was pretty ruined as you can tell by this picture:

I had brought my camera to the wedding but found out when I got there that I had forgotten to put the battery back in after charging it.  My phone camera is pretty awful so I didn't really take any pictures.  I just stole some pics that Amanda and Kerri took!

The beautiful bride:
The boys at cocktail hour (we were missing Mike):
Quinn (Justin & Kerri's little boy), LH, Justin, Mark, and Greg

The couple's beautiful first dance (they took lessons):
Me and my favorite dancing partner (sorry Mike!):

I haven't seen Quinn since his first birthday last summer, he's gotten so big!

It was a great wedding.  The food was awesome, I had the seafood trio which included scallops, lobster souffle, and a crab cake.  After the wedding I headed to a bar called Speakeasy with some friends.  There was a live band and we did some more dancing.  It was a very fun night!

Of course Sunday I was not feeling my best and pretty much did nothing but sit around and read all day.  I'm reading a Fantasy series that Mike read before he left called the Kingkiller Chronicles (author Patrick Rothfuss) and it's actually really good.  It's kind of like a more adult version of Harry Potter.  Mike and I will have a dorky discussion about the books when he gets back :o)

Now it's Monday and I will be spending my day cleaning and doing laundry to prepare for my trip back to Orland Park tomorrow! I'm so excited to be home and see everyone, I've been pretty lonely living in the apartment here by myself with Mike gone.  2 weeks from today he'll be back, can't wait to see him again!
