Happy Friday once again! I'm getting into the habit of posting on Fridays for some reason...
This week has been good in terms of my job searching. Monday night I began private tutoring in chemistry and algebra II for a high school student in the area. His parents are both military and his dad is actually in Korea for the year.
I met with a family Tuesday afternoon and was hired to nanny for their 3 month old daughter on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I begin this coming Tuesday. The family also has a 6 year old boy, but he'll be in school for most of the day.
Last but not least, I was fingerprinted for the Muscogee County School District here in Columbus this week and I also attended a substitute orientation this morning. In about two weeks I will be registered in their "subfinder" system and be able to start subbing! What's nice about it is I can do as much or as little as I choose. Obviously on Tuesdays and Thursdays I won't be able to sub.
Are you tired of hearing about me? Want some info on Mike? Ok, you got it. Mike started MCCC (maneuver captain's career course) on Tuesday. I'm excited because his hours will be fewer and much more regular than they were during airborne school. I also finally convinced Mike that we needed to sign up for netflix again, and he's gotten a little obsessed with it. He thinks there are so many good shows/movies on there...I don't TOTALLY agree but we did start watching a bunch of shows...couch potatoes that we are. I know you want to know what we're watching, right? I'll run down a list for you. Friday Night Lights (I've already watched all these, but LOVE them), Heroes, Lost, The League (Mike's favorite, and I find it surprisingly funny as well), World War II in HD (another of Mike's choices...obviously!), and a few other randoms.
Last but not least I will stimulate you with some pictures. I mentioned in the last post that I had a little surprise up my sleeve for Mike for Valentine's Day. I read about this on a blog that I found through pinterest (not even going to get into how amazing pinterest is) and I tweaked it a bit and made it a little fancier. It's called "The 14 Days of Valentines" and Mike will be receiving 14 valentines from me. Fun for him right? I won't really explain it anymore, you'll get the idea from the pictures. Here are days 1, 2, and 3 (I can't spoil the surprise on the others...stay tuned!):
Day 1:
Day 2 (who can name the reference?):
Day 3:
Basically, I printed out the sayings and glued them to valentine scrapbook paper. The keyword that matches with the treat was outlined in red puffy paint. Oh, and I added some sparkly stickers too :o) Trust me, the treats will only get better! I think I might be a little more excited about these than Mike, but give me a break, I've got a lot of time on my hands (not for much longer...)!
In other news, I have been doing yoga for a couple weeks now. Those of you who know me, or more specifically, played sports with me, will remember how INFLEXIBLE I am. It's crazy though, in just under 2 weeks I can already notice that my flexibility is getting better! So far I've been using the "Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga" video because I really like Bob the trainer. Mike bought me another yoga DVD from amazon (isn't he sweet?) which I just started today. I think pretty soon I'll be confident enough to actually do a yoga class at the gym on Fort Benning ($3 per class...not bad).
Finally, I've neglected to mention Jesse James, who has lost 0.2 lbs in the past two weeks (yes, I put him on the scale, don't judge). He has been dieting a bit lately and deserves some credit for his weight lose!
I miss and love all of my Illinoisans!
Love,
CC
