Phew! What a week! Sorry to those of you who work on Friday and aren't done with it yet...
Mike has a four day weekend for President's Day which is exciting! Last week I decided I should plan a last minute trip to Savannah...which didn't work our because none of the hotels had any availability. Well, some of them did but they were the chain hotels on the outskirts of downtown. I want to stay at a more historic hotel like we did when we went to New Orleans. Another time, maybe.
Anyway, we knew we didn't want to be our usual selves and act like couch potatoes all weekend, only getting up to go out to dinner. So in a couple hours we are going to head to Atlanta for the first time. We are staying the night at the W Hotel in a neighborhood called Buckhead that is supposed to be popular for nightlife. We're going to head to the city kind of early today though so we can get lunch when we get there and then go check out the Atlanta History Center which is pretty close to where we are staying.
So last time I blogged I wrote about the 6 year anniversary of when Mike and I began dating. We had a fabulous romantic steak dinner on our own kitchen table. I even used my wine cooler (which everyone thinks looks like a garbage can) for the champagne and added some candlelight!
Monday I got the go ahead to start subbing, so I headed to get my MCSD ID made. Did some grocery shopping, caught up on some TV, and waited for Mike to get home. Monday's Valentine:
We had some leftover steak from the night before so I decided to make steak & blue cheese salad for dinner:
We used my homemade balsamic vinaigrette. I'm obsessed with the emulsifier I use to make it....it even gives you the recipe and measurements right on the side. You can purchase it at your local target: Target Emulsifier I never buy dressing anymore because this is so delicious!
As you all know, Tuesday was Valentine's Day. The final valentine might be kind of a letdown. I admit, it wasn't very creative:
What can I say, Mike really likes cereal!
Mike and I went out to dinner at Bonefish Grill. I convinced him to take a self-timer picture in front of some of his valentines before we left:
Wednesday I was going to start subbing but Mike wanted me to go to his ultimate football game/bbq afterwards. Normally they play on Thursdays and I'll never be able to go since I nanny on Thursdays. I made some more of these to bring:
I had a bunch of pretzels and m&ms leftover and the valentine's Hershey hugs were 50% off at walgreens.
Mike's team lost the game but it was fun to be there. It was 70 degrees and sunny and I got to chat with a couple other wives.
Thursday was a long day of nannying. Stephan was off of school so I had him and baby Nicole to take care of. Stephan is not a kid who likes to play by himself and keep occupied, I felt like I needed to be involved in every single thing he did that day! I came home and told Mike we weren't having kids...hah. I think I'm joking...
When I got home from nannying the crock-pot pulled pork was ready and it was yummy! After dinner I plopped myself on the couch with a glass of wine and stayed there until bedtime...I was pooped!
Can't wait to explore Atlanta today/tonight...details to come!
Love,
Christine
