Ok...I guessssss I'll update my blog!!

Hi ya'll (I live in the South now, i can say that!)

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile, it's mostly because I never take any pictures and I think that blogs without pictures aren't as good!  The pictures in this blog will be mildy pathetic, my apologies.

Now I need to think back and remember what has happened since my last post.  Not much, to be honest.

Last week recap:

Monday I got caught up on things around the house.  Laundry, cleaning, meal planning, grocery shopping.  I tutored Monday evening.

Tuesday I nannied

Wednesday I subbed 7th grade at a middle school here in Columbus.  It was a long, tough day.  It's hard to get kids to do what they're supposed to do when you don't even know their names! It seems like the school was REALLY trying to keep their budget down too, because the teacher left a worksheet for her classes but only left 1 class set (for 4 classes) and gave instructions that they couldn't write on the actual sheet, they had to copy it onto notebook paper and do it on there.  Let me tell you how much those kids DIDN'T get on board with that (even though supposedly this was a normal occurrence). By the time I got home I needed some tylenol, some "Felicity" on netflix, a glass of wine, and some dominos pizza.  In that order.  Thankfully my husband made that all happen.  Unfortunately, I had to go tutor that night too :(

Thursday I nannied

Friday I took a much-needed day off.  I wondered all day how I ever used to work full-time and coach basketball.  Mike and I enjoyed a meal at one of our "guilty pleasure" restaurants: Olive Garden.  I only had one breadstick...please be proud of me.

Things that were true for the above re-capped week:
#1 although I only worked three days, all three of those days I got home 2-3 hours later than Mike...THEN had to go tutor.  I experienced some jealousy.
#2 I now have a respect for wives/mothers like my mom, Joann.  It is REALLY HARD to work all day and then figure out what the heck to make for dinner (not to mention get the energy to make it).  Hence the dominos pizza Wednesday night.
#3 My husband is obsessed with Friday Night Lights (or, more specifically, Eric Taylor).  We typically watch at least two 45 minute episodes a day, andddd I'm going to go ahead and throw Mike under the bus by mentioning that he changed the name of his coach on his NCAA football video game to Eric Taylor.  Now he just needs to recruit Tim Riggins and he'll be all set!

Saturday we had such a fun day.  Mike's friend Riley from Ft. Hood was at Ft. Benning for ranger school.  Unfortunately a few days into it he hurt his knee and got dropped from the class.  Even more unfortunately he wasn't able to go back to Hood until Monday so he had a weekend with no cell phone and no car! Luckily he got a hold of Mike and we were able to pick him up and hang out on Saturday.  We headed to Smokey Bones to meet another couple for lunch and watch some games.  We ended up having quite a good time there and decided to continue our afternoon activities at the local bowling alley.  I did pretty great the first game...158! I bowled a 103 in the next two games...not so great.  The important things is, I beat Mike in all three games ;o)

Sunday morning I woke up to my typical sore left butt, a consequence of bowling.  Does this happen to anyone else?  When I bowl I plant my left foot and put all my weight on it...is that not the correct way??? Who knows?

Ok, everyone get ready for the thrilling photos that will be a part of this blog! Sunday night I tried another one of pioneer woman's recipes: Pork Chops with Garlic and Wine. It turned out pretty well but was more time consuming than I would have liked.  Any meal with mashed potatoes is OK in my book, and this was one of my better batches if I do say so myself!  I wasn't happy with the green beans :(  We need to get back to our asparagus, even if it does make our pee smell weird :o)

"Mike, I'm taking a picture of you eating.  Act natural."

This Monday I did the usual Monday stuff: TV watching, cleaning, laundry, meal planning, grocery shopping.  I also baked some chocolate cupcakes so that I could try out this vanilla frosting which is supposed to be the "Best Frosting Ever."  It was good, but I don't think it was the best.  Since it wouldn't be a good idea for me and Mike to eat 24 chocolate cupcakes I brought them with to his ultimate football game for the guys to eat.  Luckily only a few stragglers made it back.

Today I nannied again.  The family's poor little 6-year-old boy was home from school sick.  When his mom left his fever was only 101.  A couple hours later he looked flushed and I checked it again...103.7!! Yikes!  I immediately called mom.  She didn't think they had any children's tylenol to bring the fever down so Dad left work to pick some up and bring it over.  Luckily after some medicine and a nap the fever went down.  Baby girl behaved beautifully today :o)

Ahhh, what a wordy blog post.  Tomorrow I sub again.  This time I chose high school, and it's a charter school...hopefully the students are a little better-behaved.

Love and miss all my Illinoisans!
