A Trip to Destin

I am on a roll with these blog posts.  Don't be surprised if you don't see another one until May!

The day after Easter Mike had to go back to class - boo!  Unfortunately, he wasn't able to join me and my parents on our little trip to Destin, FL which was a 4 hour drive from Columbus.  We stayed at a condo right on the beach and not only was it really nice, but the view from our (really huge) balcony was amazing:

We had great weather, which was lucky because apparently it had been raining there the week before.  During the days it was sunny and in the mid-upper 70s.  At night it was a little cooler, especially if the wind was blowing, so we wore sweaters.   The first night there we too the recommendation of a bar tender and ate at McGuire's, and Irish pub/restaurant.  The food was great and it was a pretty cool place.  This was really the only night I took pictures because as usual I was lazy with the camera.

All three of us:

Notice the dollar bills hanging above us?  These dollars, signed by customers, were hanging ALL OVER the place.  Apparently they keep somewhat of an estimated count so that they can insure it all, and there are believed to be around 1 million dollar bills hung by patrons all over the restaurant.  Pretty cool, if a bit of a fire hazard!

I had to get the bar's famous drink, Irish Wake, which was filled with all sorts of booze that I'm better off not knowing about.  It was kelly-green in color and I got to keep the mason jar/glass when I left!

The rest of the trip was spent with Dad golfing in the mornings while my mom and I sat on the beach, lunch at various ocean-side restaurants, more time on the beach, and wine up in the condo before heading out to another restaurant for dinner. Everywhere we ate was pretty good, but by the end of it I was kind of sick of seafood!

Ahhh nothing like a cold beer on a beautiful sunny beach:

Destin might have the prettiest beaches I've ever been too.  The sand is SO white and clean.  The water was practically crystal clear. Our beach was never very crowded either which was a plus, and our condo provided us with lounge chairs and an umbrella everyday for free!

But I missed Mike a lot and was still sort of happy to get back to Georgia :o)

Thanks Mom & Dad for taking me on this little trip and paying for (almost) ALL of my meals and drinks!

Love,
Christine
